Well, we’ve taken notes ladies and gentlemen so prepare your shopping baskets! One of the fiercest looks of the season has brought some friends along and it’s become a bit of an African Safari.
Cue animal print – a trend that is dominating the display windows of Caneland Central and while leopard print could arguably be considered a fashion staple clawing its way into each season’s trend mood board, this year we’ve seen the arrival of various other members of the animal kingdom.
Snakeskin, tortoiseshell and alligator print have been revealed and in a plot twist that was traditionally seen as a fashion faux pas, mixing and matching prints has been given a hall pass this season. Think a snakeskin leather boot paired with a leopard print coat, or a blazer with leopard print accents.
While some of the bolder style choices have been to mix-and-match animal print from head-to-toe, more subtle additions like a leopard print scarf or tortoiseshell frames paired with a black leather tote with animal print features, are wearable and easy to introduce into your winter wardrobe to complement your existing neutral staples.
Teamed not only with one-another, animal print can also be worn alongside some of the other prominent trends of the autumn winter season such as London street style standout, houndstooth print, for a chic and head-turning look.
In Australia and the sunshine state in particular, we are lucky enough to have a figurative fluffy blanket thrown over us, with a mild climate for the majority of the year. However, for the occasions when the sun is shining but the air has a chilly bite about it, layers and accessories have become our best friends when putting together a trans-seasonal look.
The solution? An animal print scarf. Not only is this a simple and affordable piece to add to your winter wardrobe and one that can be easily wrapped around your shoulders when the temperature dips, it’s also lightweight and versatile – the perfect item to pack in your carry on for a quick (and stylish) weekend getaway to break up the year.
So, when the cold weather bites and so do the trends, embrace it and dive head first into this affordable and oh-so-chic autumn winter look.
